Card company scoops Afro-Caribbean award

A Wolverhampton company which publishes cards for black people is celebrating after being crowned Business of the Year 2006 at the African Caribbean Business Federation (ACBF) Awards.

The African Caribbean Business Federation (ACBF) Annual Awards was held at The Copthorne Hotel, Merry Hill, Dudley, and six companies came away with top awards.

The Afro Card Company, based on Finchfield Road Wolverhampton,

won the International Trade category

as well as the Business of the Year 2006 title.

Fred Wisdom, of The Afro Card Company, said: "The ACBF Awards recognise the successes of Afro-caribbean businesses in the region and the awards provide a platform for black minority ethnic entrepreneurs to showcase the work they are producing.

There was some stiff competition because all the finalists were fantastic. I am absolutely delighted to have won," he added.

The Afro Card Company has gone from strength to strength following advise from Business link Black Country and through UK Trade & investments' Passport to Export scheme, negotiations are already taking place in Holland and France to distribute the cards across parts of Europe.
